Multi Agency Vehicle Op - Yeadon Way

On Wednesday 1st April 2026, Blackpool Police in Partnership with Blackpool Council and the DVSA have conducted the latest Vehicle Op on Yeadon Way.

In attendance for this operation were:

Enveco

Licencing

DVSA (Driver Vehicle Standards Agency)

Blackpool & Fylde NHP officers

SVIU ( Stolen Vehicles Unit)

The objective of the operation is to identify and remove untaxed, uninsured, or otherwise non-compliant vehicles from the public highway, particularly those causing obstruction or nuisance. The operation will also focus on:

Inspection of licensed passenger vehicles (e.g., taxis, Ubers)

Review of light and heavy goods vehicles (LGVs and HGVs) using the 7.5-tonne weight-restricted bridge into Blackpool

Verification of waste carrier compliance

Unfortunatley on the day, a lorry at the junction of the M55 and yeadon way roundabout had turned over, which caused havoc and road closures which impacted the operation. As such we were not able to check as many vehicles, however, i would like to share with you the stats of the day which still had some great results.

In total 75 vehicles were checked, 24 of these being Taxis/Ubers.

Almost immediately as the the operation began, a vehicle was siezed under S.165 of the road traffic act for no insurance. The vehicle also had no road tax, no M.O.T, no rear registration plate and it was also given a PG9 by the DVSA for being a danger to other road users. The vehicle also had a strong smell of cannabis.

Two vehicles handed a delayed PG9 by the DVSA needing to complete the repairs within 10 days.

Two vehicles Fined for no M.O.T

Three vehicles Over the weight limit of yeadon way, and fined.

Two drivers handed a fine and 6 points for no insurance.

One driver caught operating a vehicle with no licence.

One driver given a VDRS
